Hello, my name is Janean Burget, I'm 57 years old, and my mission is to bring the disabled community together. I, myself, became disabled about 10 years ago, and my disability has progressed since then. I'm at the point where I will soon find myself in need of a service dog, and I'm starting now before I am no longer able to train one myself.
Being disabled, I know it gets lonely. I also know that buying a pre-trained service dog is very costly, and the average person cannot afford it. These are the reasons why I wanted a way to not only help myself but to help others who are in similar situations as well. That's when I purchased my dog, Edgar Allen Poetry, and started my business, Carenines.
With being a certified trainer, and with all of my past experience training dogs, I've set out to train a service dog of my own, and I would like to take you along with me on this journey. Carenines is a way to bring awareness to those with a disability, as well as a way to try and make getting a service dog more affordable. With my business, I plan to make and release videos, online courses, books, and much more dog-related content to help grow Carenines. This content will feature many topics, to name a few: dog training videos/online courses, a healthy dog recipe book, aroma therapy/natural care for dogs (reiki and crystals), etc. All of this, of course, starring my little helper, Edgar!
The bigger picture of what I'm working towards, and the main focus of Carenines, is to be able to bring those of the disabled community together by hosting get-togethers and helping others to train their own service dogs. To do this, I wanted to find a way that is more affordable and helps get dogs out of shelters. With this being said, one idea is to eventually help people in need of a service dog find a dog in the shelter that passes the minimum requirement of a good citizen test performed by a qualified trainer. The main idea is to help people and dogs altogether, including different chapters in different states and possibly an annual get-together in a chosen location, and I hope to achieve that through Carenines.
This is my mission, and I appreciate any and all help I receive to get there!
-- An Updated Carenines --
Hello, my name is Janean Burget, I am now 60 years old, and my mission is to bring the disabled community together. My story is still the same, as are my goals and aspirations for this business. The only difference is the dog who will be helping me front and center.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the quarantine that came with it, I was unable to take Edgar out for socialization. That is when Empress found her way to Carenines. She is a 5-year-old, basic obedience and canine good citizen trained dog. She belonged to a trainer and was very well-socialized. I still own and work with Edgar, but Empress is my service dog.
Though it did not work out as I had hoped in the beginning, I am still very happy to have Edgar as part of the family. Not only am I happy to have him, I am very glad to have Empress with us, too. She has been beyond helpful so far already! I can't wait for you all to see what's to come. Thank you all for being here -- I appreciate your support tremendously.
